We were embarking on a significant basement conversion project on our home in Woodseats, Sheffield. After receiving quotes from several building companies we soon felt lost and overwhelmed. A friend who works in architectural services recommended Nathan at Ikonografik to help us with the design of the project as well as navigating complexities such as planning permission, building regulations etc.
From the first conversation with Nathan we knew that we were in safe hands and the project almost instantly had structure and focus and we felt for the first time that we were actually going to make it happen. Nathan took the time to understand what we wanted and made clear and achievable what had previously seemed impenetrable.
Nathan provided highly detailed plans and was amenable to alterations and changes. He also arranged for planning permission visits and paperwork and regulation checks and guided us through processes such as the Party Wall Act.
The builders that we eventually employed for the work were able to follow his plans throughout the entire build. Using Ikonografik saved us time, money and hassle throughout the project. Having clear designs and timelines from the start made everything easier and meant that the project was able to stick closer to time and budget.
It's clear that Nathan really cares about his work and showed a real interest in our project. The conversion has made a huge difference to our family life, expanding the functional space for our family of five significantly as well as providing an office space for home working.

Overall, it was the perfect journey, and we are very happy with how things turned out.
Initially, we were a little nervous as we had been very disappointed with a past project, in particular with the builders. Following a chat with Nathan we were confident that he had listened and understood our aims and vision.
Throughout the project Nathan always listened and asked if we were happy with everything before progressing to the next stage. He also kept us fully informed of all developments, regardless of whether we needed to do anything, so we knew exactly what was happening. This gave us the reassurance that everything was being done exactly as it should be.
We therefore chose Nathan to complete the design work and also to project manage the site works. We liked the designs Nathan put forward and following a few adjustments we were happy to progress to the next stage, confident that Nathan had taken on board our requirements. Nathan also suggested several builders we could approach for quotes, who he felt would be a good match for us and our project.
When we got to the actual building stage it was an absolute breeze, fantastic. There was clear communication all the way along with the builders so we knew exactly what was happening and when, so we could plan accordingly. There were no horrible surprises and it was so different to our previous experience.
The timings were perfect; Nathan’s estimated timescales worked out almost to the day. As Nathan also helped manage the budget, he looked at where we could pull back on certain items and spend more in order to get the best value for money.
Even after the building work had finished Nathan and the builders were on hand to answer any questions and also to put things right. A few unexpected snags cropped up several months after completion and Nathan helped organise repairs, to suit us, even with Coronavirus restrictions, until we were happy with things.
We found Nathan is very easy to work with and that makes a difference too. Overall, it was the perfect journey, and we are very happy with how things turned out. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nathan and we already have done so on a number of occasions.

We employed Nathan to help design and project manage the expansion and remodelling of our large Health Centre and are very happy with the end result, it’s exactly what we wanted. Impressed with the attention to detail, engagement with stakeholders, how problems were solved and how easy the plans were to understand. Especially the 3D walk throughs, as these helped us and the staff really understand things.
As the project was part funded by the NHS, cost control and NHS approval was of utmost importance and Nathan helped us to achieve this without a hitch, although it was challenging at times.
