Core Value 7 : Ownership
We have used the word ‘we’ a lot so far. This is mainly because we recognise that people working together as a united team, will achieve more, go further and have many exciting adventures together !
This doesn’t mean we aren’t accountable as individuals; we are definitely accountable as individuals. We all want to contribute fairly to getting things done, with the right attitude and approach.
However, we are human and occasionally we all make mistakes
Despite trying to get things right first time, sometimes we won’t.
We don’t try to hide these or blame someone else. We own our mistakes, but we share with other members of the team because we care about doing things properly. We learn from this and work out what to do next by talking things through with other people. We feel it’s important to be honest, transparent and conscientious.
We are accountable to each other
The leadership team are accountable to the rest of the team. The rest of the team are accountable to the leadership team.
This means we are not afraid to ask challenging questions no matter who we are asking. It’s not hard to approach someone to ask for advice because they are too busy. We need to work out ways to set aside time to have meaningful conversations.
We want to embrace constructive conflict resolution. Part of our identity is empowering employees to speak up and air their differences to anyone in the business, whether they are the boss or not. It’s about having a two-way conversation where we listen and try to resolve any conflict in a respectful way, that preserves our relationships, and hopefully improves our relationships moving forwards.
