Our approach to sustainability
We’re passionate about tackling the climate crisis, which is why sustainability is at the heart of Ikonografik Design. For us, it’s not just about eco-friendly buildings – it’s also about how we operate as a business too and manage our activities.
We believe sustainability is so important it’s firmly embedded as one of the core values of our company.
This is our company statement so far and outlines our sustainability goals, our current approach and attitude. We understand we are on a journey and the destination is still some way in the future. We also recognise we are not perfect; we are falling short and need to improve in many ways. We will be reviewing and updating our Sustainability Strategy each year and aim to improve it, year on year.
As UN Secretary-General António Guterres pointed out in September 2019, ‘the climate emergency is a race we are losing, but it is a race we can win’.
Sustainability Goals
Designing in an era of climate emergency is more than a daily challenge – it is our primary catalyst for innovation. As our practice evolves, we are channelling our growth into a deeper, more impactful contribution to the future of climate-conscious architecture.
We have several sustainability goals that we are aiming for. We feel we are meeting some of these goals in our current day-to-day activities but some of our other sustainability goals are still some way off in the future.

Sustainable Architecture
Our journey so far
The seeds of Ikonografik Design’s commitment to sustainability were sown during the architectural studies of director Nathan Oliver in the 1990’s. It was becoming increasingly evident that the built environment was a significant contributor to energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Driven by a desire to mitigate these impacts, Nathan set out to get involved and try to reduce the environmental impact of buildings. It’s not been easy or straightforward and the journey won’t ever be over.
