Sheffield Art Deco Inspired Project Update: Significant progress being made!

It was fantastic to get out on site recently and see how the Art Deco inspired project in Sheffield is coming along. Things are really moving! The watertight shell is now complete, and the brand-new kitchen from the amazing Wood and Wire team is being installed. It’s really exciting to see it all take shape.

Exposed Feature Steel Beams: A Semi-Industrial Touch

One of the key secrets of this Sheffield renovation project was the client’s vision for exposed feature steel beams, aiming for that cool, semi-industrial look. These weren’t just any beams, either – they’re seriously robust, supporting the entire corner of the main house above!

Exposing the Secrets of Exposed Feature Steel Beams

Now, as you might know, structural steel beams need fire protection. Usually, this means cladding them in fire board to shield them. But the Clients wanted to keep them visible and exposed for an industrial aesthetic. That’s where intumescent paint comes in! This special paint swells and expands when exposed to fire, creating a thick barrier for the required fire resistance.

Custom Colour Coordination: Making the Beams Pop!

We worked closely with the clients and specialist paint manufacturers to ensure those main steel beams stayed beautifully exposed. The clients chose a coloured top coat that perfectly complements the kitchen and custom furniture colours. It’s all about those cohesive details, right?

Wood and Wire Kitchen: Plywood Perfection!

And can we just talk about the plywood kitchen from Wood and Wire for a moment? It’s absolutely stunning! We’re loving how it’s all starting to come together. You can really see the craftsmanship and attention to detail.
