Our Vision, Mission + Core Values help create your dreams

About a year ago I started thinking about Ikonografik’s company values, and the vision and mission that supports those values.

I started doing this because I want to deliver an even better service to customers, and so I’m nearly ready to take on my first part-time member of staff [which is really scary]. As I thought about this more deeply, I realised that a company’s values correlate to their overall culture.

So, to ensure I continue to deliver the high-quality work I have completed over the last few years, I need to work with people who also see things the same way as me, and whose motivations align.

As a result, I started to think carefully about the approach of Ikonografik Design; what I want to achieve, the customers I want to work with, what motivates me and what makes me do things the way I do. This helped me work out what my Vision + Mission + Core Values are. So I wrote a first draft, binned it, and started again. Then I wrote a second draft,  re-read it, changed it, had other people look at it and finally settled on the core values as displayed in the graphic below. 

In short, our vision is to deliver amazing, environmentally friendly architecture coupled with outstanding customer experience at all times, for ALL people; because everyone deserves good architecture that changes their life for the better. This is architecture that people love. This is our purpose. 

Our mission is to deliver architecture that constantly wows because we love drawing and designing things, and solving problems in unexpected, creative ways. We will do this by providing a great service that makes everything as easy as possible for our customers. We desire to reduce the hassle to a bare minimum. We also want to use our business as a force for good, to help society and to reduce architecture’s impact on the environment.

We are committed to sustainability, and we believe that architecture has a responsibility to protect the environment and improve lives.

We are constantly striving to improve our skills and knowledge, and we are always looking for new ways to innovate and push the boundaries of design.

We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience great design, and we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

We believe that strong relationships are essential to success, and we build long-term partnerships with our clients, suppliers, and colleagues. 

Ownership
We take ownership of our work, and are accountable for our actions. We believe that this is essential to delivering exceptional results. 

As part of our the process to update our values, we’ve had the website updated. The first tab on the website is now a landing page dedicated to my company Vision + Mission + Core Values.

I strongly believe a firm vision is more important than the projects I’ve worked on, or the experience and qualifications I may or may not have. I believe for a project to be a proper success, it’s important that clients, staff, suppliers and collaborators have shared values. It means we are all more likely to be pulling in the same direction.

While I appreciate some people don’t subscribe to this sort of stuff, I personally think it’s really important.

It’s also helped me work out where I want the company to go in the future. 

I feel company culture is underpinned and shaped by a clear Vision + Mission + Core Values.
