Happy 60th birthday CIAT!

Happy 60th Birthday to…*…my professional organisation, The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology [CIAT]  

For six decades, today, Architectural Technology and CIAT has been at the forefront of the built environment, shaping its future. 

I’ve been involved with CIAT since a student member back in the 1990’s* and became a fully qualified member back in 2006. I’ve been meaning to get Fellowship status for quite a while + join the CIAT Accredited Conservation Register and Principal Designer Register but keep putting it off. I’m aiming to do some of that this year.

Being a professional CIAT member has really helped my professional practice develop, holds weight and serious credibility. Hopefully, some of the projects you’ve seen that I’ve worked on, and delivered, also testify to that. There is also a great community within CIAT of like-minded professionals, trying to do a great job, and always willing to help each other out. 

Recently, I was invited to be a Federation of Master Builders judge for the 2025 Master Builder Awards – Outstanding Builder of the Year, Yorkshire & Trent region. I’ll be helping to sift through all the entries and help choose suitable winners. I think this might be partly because I’m involved with CIAT.

Here’s to the next few decades of CIAT and judging the 2025 Master Builder Awards with fairness.
