Complex design for quality project developing well

We have a little update for a big complicated project. 

It’s a large complex design for a quality project, featuring: 

• A single storey rear extension intended to create an open plan kitchen and living space.
• A loft conversion to create a master bedroom suite.
• A partial garage conversion to create a new Utility Room.
• A full suite of landscaping.

As you can see, there’s quite a lot going on!

We received Planning Permission earlier in the summer, which was another success, as it sailed straight through. We’re currently finishing off the rather technical Building Regulations package, and going to Tender soon. 

Lots of natural light and open spaces are important, so the structural details are quite complicated. We tried to incorporate a few nice details like shaped roof edges to mask the thick super insulated roofs, mock standing seam roofing and cladding and frameless glass balustrading. 

This project may look fairly straightforward but it really isn’t. There are about 6 wall variations, 4 roof variations, 2 floor variations and 2 glazing variations that all required us to complete bespoke thermal calculations. The roof dormer window also needs to be fire rated, so working out how best to do this has been interesting. 

We’re super excited to see this progress to construction in the not too distant future, as the results will be hugely transformative for the family living here.
