All systems go for projects on site

2022 seems to be shaping up into a busy year for projects being delivered on site. At the moment we have three very different projects, all on site at the same time, at different stages of construction. This is quite a lot for us to manage at the moment, alongside design work for other customers, but thankfully our standard operating procedures help us to keep track of everything that needs to be done. 

Here’s a little progress video while on site a few weeks ago at the stone-built conservation area project. 

The three projects are: 

• An extension + partial retro fit to a house in a conservation area. Using less cement and concrete and focussing on breathable limecrete + lime plastering + lime mortar. 
• A two-storey rear extension + single storey side extension to create larger living spaces + bedroom + work from home space. 
• A smaller internal refit and reconfiguration of a kitchen space. 

Despite best made plans these projects have all had their fair share of complications and unforeseen challenges to deal with. Some of these issues were: 

• Specialist piling sub-contractors pulling out a few days before they were meant to start work, so we helped to source alternative piling sub-contractors at short notice. 
• Raw material shortages and cost uplifts, this issue has delayed some parts of a project and meant the follow-on trades couldn’t complete their work when originally planned. 
• Unexpected Party Wall Disputes that delayed another project, we helped provide support and information to enable an amicable agreement was reached. 
• Dealing with asbestos removal before the main building work started.

If we are employed for the Advance Service Package we are on hand to help support our clients and the building team while on site. We help provide solutions to problems that sometimes crop up and work to minimise the impact so everything can proceed in a timely and cost effective manner.
