I created a brief timeline of my not so linear career + some other bonus bits that not many people know about me.
Still self-employed, still working, a timeline worth celebrating!
Something that came out of this is that I still love designing and drawing stuff and running a business is hard work.
I love helping my Clients and seeing their eyes light up when their project is delivered exactly how they wanted.

Find out about releasing vinyl records, headbutting a car window at speed and surviving being made redundant twice in 2011 + loads of other things I’ve done, some stupid, hopefully some not so stupid.

I’ve always struggled a bit with following the ‘rules’ and working in old established frameworks. I probably work best when having freedom to do [most] things on my own terms.

Something I struggle with is the concept that there’s no point in starting a business unless your goal is to scale it up, hire employees, maybe pay and treat them badly, have a high churn rate, turn your business into an asset, eventually extract yourself from it entirely and walk away. I feel a bit exhausted by coaches and gurus telling me this is the obvious goal we should all be working towards. I love designing and drawing stuff, helping clients and seeing their eyes light up when their project is delivered exactly how they wanted and being fully involved in most projects. I don’t want to spend ages looking at forecasts and spreadsheets and managing people problems.
Beware though, the PDF document is quite hefty and you may not make it to the end, happy reading.
